Prior to completing her Arts/Law degree at Monash University, Miriam was heavily involved in community discourse. At the time, she was the youngest person to be elected to the State Council, and then subsequently to the Executive, of the Youth Affairs Council of Victoria. In these roles she contributed to numerous submissions regarding both state and federal policies.

She began practising as a lawyer in Sydney, being involved in native title as well as family, criminal, property and wills.

Miriam returned to Melbourne and established her own legal firm. During discussions with educators Miriam realised that many of them were unaware of the constantly changing laws and consequences applicable to them. Recognising the need for a competent and engaging forum to address this, she completed a certificate in training. Miriam then established Lawducate as the only training business dedicated to conducting legal workshops for educational institutions.
